Our belief – the world’s most important challenges are all systemic, which means we need to come together for the long-haul, creating breakthroughs in thinking and action with close collaboration and coordination. I leave with so much hope that we have the solutions, people, and commitment to enable us to transition to a sustainable economic model. The brilliant leaders and scientists of both organisations shared incredible science and solutions for solving the climate and food challenges the world faces. The event was made possible by SAN Group and Sterner, two inspiring organisations dedicated to building a sustainable world. The degree to which COP28, which will be hosted in UAE in November and December 2023, will embrace the business community to play a significant role in creating the plan towards a net zero world. The tremendous commitment and dedication of the UAE region to invest and implement the breakthrough solutions that will enable a net zero world.Ģ. There are two things that really stood out for me:ġ. How WhatIF Foods continues to be a beacon for the food system, making regenerative, healthy, and delicious food which transforms farmers lives (tripling their level of income in just one year), restores soil health, and reconnects us all to a diversified diet. How engineered reefs and seagrass meadows can be used to sequester carbon dioxide at scale from the atmosphere and regenerate marine life. How insects can be used to utilise all food-waste and stop the emissions of methane into the atmosphere. How circular models for food production can be developed enabling zero waste. How factories can deploy solar, geothermal solutions and green hydrogen to enable a zero footprint. How land-based sustainable aquaculture can provide protein for billions of people with a tiny carbon and water footprint. We explored breakthrough solutions that can help the world move to net zero, including: Mohamed Al Hammadi, of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment. We were honoured to have the event opened by His Excellency Dr. Last week, I was privileged to be asked to be the host of the Blue Economy Aquaculture Forum, which took place in Abu Dhabi, bringing together 120 government leaders, investors, scientists, and business leaders dedicated to building a net zero world. ![]()
